Privacy

Sunwise is a health app, so the short version comes first, in plain language, and the detail follows.

Your health data stays on your iPhone. Sunwise has no account, no server storing your logs, and no copy of your Apple Health data.
Nothing about you is sold, rented or handed to data brokers. Not your food, not your weight, not your religion or your practice.
There are no ads in the app and no advertising software inside it.

What Sunwise stores, and where

Everything you enter, which is food, meals, workouts, weight, measurements, your observance settings and your targets, is written to a database inside the app on your device. It is not uploaded to us, because there is no us to upload it to. Sunwise has no user accounts and no login.

If your iPhone backs up to iCloud or to a computer, the app's data can be included in that backup. That backup belongs to you and is controlled by your Apple account and its encryption, not by Sunwise. You can exclude Sunwise from iCloud backup in the iOS settings for iCloud.

Apple Health and HealthKit

Sunwise asks for permission to read and write Apple Health data such as body weight, energy, macronutrients, steps and workouts. You choose each category, you can say no to all of them, and the app works without any of them by you typing the same numbers in.

Health data read through HealthKit is used only to show you your own information and to calculate your targets inside the app. It is never used for advertising or marketing, never used to build a profile of you, never sold, and never shared with a third party. It does not leave your device.

You can change or withdraw Health permissions at any time in Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Health, then Sunwise.

Location

Sunset and nightfall times need a rough location. Sunwise asks for it once, uses it on the device to calculate those times, and does not send it anywhere. You can also set your city by hand and never grant location access at all.

Analytics, tracking and crash reports

There are no third party analytics or advertising kits in Sunwise, and no tracking across apps or websites. Sunwise does not ask for the App Tracking Transparency permission because it has nothing to track you with.

If you turn on Apple's own crash and analytics sharing at the system level, Apple may send us aggregated crash reports and App Store statistics. Those come from Apple, they are not linked to your identity, and they contain none of your health data.

This website

This site is static files. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads no fonts, scripts or images from anyone else, which is why there is no cookie banner. The host keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for a short period for security and abuse handling.

There is one exception, and it is the mailing list. It is described in full below.

The mailing list

The app and the mailing list are separate things, and the difference is worth stating plainly rather than hedging both. The app holds your health data on your phone and sends none of it anywhere. The mailing list is an address you typed into this website on purpose, and an address is personal data that we hold.

If you give us your address, it is stored by us, in a database run by Cloudflare, and by Resend, the company that delivers the mail. Those are the only two places it goes. It is not sold, not rented, not given to anyone else, and never connected to anything in the app, which has no account to connect it to.

Four things are stored, and nothing else: your address, the time you confirmed it, the time you removed it if you do, and a random token that makes your confirmation and removal links work. No IP address, no browser, no location, no record of what you opened or clicked. There is no tracking pixel in the mail, so we cannot tell whether you read it.

You are not on the list until you press the button in a confirmation email, so somebody typing your address in cannot sign you up. It is used for one message, on the day Sunwise reaches the App Store, and nothing else. No newsletter, no product updates, no partners.

Every message carries an unsubscribe link that works in one press, with no sign in and no questions, and your mail app's own unsubscribe button works too. Removing yourself takes effect immediately. Write to support@trysunwise.com if you would rather we deleted the row outright.

If you email us

Writing to support means we hold your email address and whatever you tell us, in our mailbox, for as long as it takes to answer you and keep a record of the fix. Ask for it to be deleted and it is deleted. Please do not send health details in an email, because email is not private and Sunwise does not need them to help you.

Deleting your data

Deleting the app removes its database from your device. Data that Sunwise wrote into Apple Health belongs to Apple Health, and you delete it there, in the Health app, under Sunwise. There is nothing held on our side to delete.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you have rights to access, correct, export or delete personal data held about you, and to complain to your data protection authority. Because Sunwise holds no personal data other than support email, most of those requests are answered by pointing at your own device. Any request goes to support@trysunwise.com.

Children

Sunwise is not intended for children under 13, and it is not directed at them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and anything that materially affects your data will be said in the app before it takes effect.
