These are the terms for using the Sunwise app and this site. Using either one means you accept them. They are written to be read.
What Sunwise is
Sunwise is an iPhone app for tracking food, training and body measurements, with a day that turns at sunset and support for religious fasts and dietary practice. It is a personal tool for your own information.
It is not medical advice
Sunwise is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat or prevent anything. Calorie targets, macro splits and body estimates are calculations, not clinical guidance.
Talk to a doctor before fasting or restricting intake if you are pregnant, diabetic, on medication that depends on food timing, or have a history of an eating disorder. If a number in this app is making you unwell, stop using it and get help from a person.
It is not a religious authority
Sunset times, fast dates, waiting periods and food statuses are calculated or taken from reference data, and communities differ on all of them. Sunwise can be wrong. Your rabbi, imam, priest, community calendar or your own practice decides, and the app follows. Everything it computes can be overridden by hand.
Food data
Nutrition figures come from public databases, manufacturers and other people's entries, and they contain errors. Certification status can change, and a product that was certified last year may not be this year. Check the package if it matters, particularly for allergies and for kashrut or halal certification.
Cost
Sunwise costs nothing to use today and contains no purchases and no ads. That describes the app as it is now, not a promise about later. If paid features are ever added, what you already have keeps working under the terms you agreed to, and any change is announced in the app before it applies.
Your data and your responsibility
Your logs live on your device, as described in the privacy page. That means the backup is yours too. If you lose the phone without a backup, the data is gone, and there is no copy on a server to restore from.
Fair use
Do not copy, decompile or resell the app, do not use it to break the law, and do not submit content to shared food data that is abusive or deliberately false. Accounts do not exist, so the only enforcement available is removing bad shared data.
Ownership
The app, its name, its mark and this site belong to [ENTITY NAME]. Everything you log belongs to you.
Availability and liability
The app is provided as it is, without warranties. It may have bugs, it may be unavailable, and features may change or be removed between versions.
To the extent the law allows, [ENTITY NAME] is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Sunwise. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud, and nothing here removes consumer rights you have by law.
Apple
Apple is not a party to these terms and has no responsibility for the app or for support of it.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new version.
Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the law of [JURISDICTION], and the courts of [JURISDICTION] have jurisdiction. Questions go to support@trysunwise.com.
